Google launches Image Ads
Google has launched an option for Adwords users to upload and display image ads using their service. The ads will, at least initially, be displayed only on the web sites of Google's content partners and not on its own web site.
"Unlike traditional online graphical ads, image ads are consistently matched to a page's content. By showing image ads, you're not just placing your brand and message in front of a broad audience — you're reaching relevant new prospects already inclined to be interested in your products or services," Google says.
Image ads are priced and targeted just like text ads. They can be managed from within the existing Adwords account and interface. Every time advertisers create a new ad, Google will show them an option to upload an image ad (instead of text)
The only problem is that advertisers would, in order to exploit the new feature, need to engage an design person/agency to create images. If only Google provided a simple online tool using which advertisers can create their own images. This would be lapped up by small and medium sized companies that form a bulk of the Adwords user base.
